Stepping
into our Hawaiian themed, bright large classroom, the Short Boards
is a learning environment where preschoolers engage in age-appropriate
activities related to a monthly theme. In our creative classroom
environment children are encouraged to explore and are challenged
to learn. Your child will make new friends and develop self-confidence
as he or she strengthens their cognitive skills. You will see
amazing growth in the Short Boards classroom watching your child
demonstrate new learning skills, and flourish in our stimulating
classroom while having loads of F-U-N!
Through language and literacy we introduce high-quality
literature to promote a love of reading. Our daily activities
develop reading and writing skills and introduce important literacy
concepts.
Children are taught to use math skills by introducing them to
numbers, including sorting, grouping, and counting, as well as
more advanced skills.
Short Boards group time allows your child to talk, listen, share,
take turns, cooperate, interact with friends, and learn the value
of giving and receiving feedback. Positive reinforcement helps
children realize the importance of being part of the Pineapple
family, and refines skills needed to flourish in a classroom environment.
Creativity and imagination through dramatic play, music and art
activities gives your child the opportunity to express their ideas
in order to help build confidence, independence and imagination.
Short Boards experience loving, nurturing teachers who work with
the children to develop their large motor skills; running, jumping,
throwing, kicking and practicing coordination skills; such as
writing, drawing, cutting and other activities. Computers are
an everyday component of the preschool classroom, allowing children
to practice their new skills.
Pineapple Cove Academy Short Boards program incorporates Creative
Curriculum elements; communication, self-help skills, emotional
skills, social skills, physical skills, cognitive skills, and
character building.
A highlight of the Short Boards day, is the use of the Big Kahuna
playground. Every day the Short Boards head out to the playground
for a bike ride around the trike path, a slide down the big fish
slide, or just swinging on the swings! On warm summer days, Short
Boards put on their favorite Hawaiian bathing suits and frolic
with the frog and palm trees for a fun time in our no depth water
park.
