The first five years of a child's life is a time of rapid growth and development. It is in these early years that children develop their love of learning, self-esteem and confidence. Pineapple Cove Academy’s curriculum ensures that each child has a totally comprehensive early childhood experience. Pineapple Cove Academy’s curriculum is designed to meet the needs of children from birth to five years old and is extended for children six through twelve years of age in our school age program.
Carefully chosen to meet each child’s individual needs and expectations our curriculum uses a hands-on approach where teachers intuitively interact with the children to achieve educational success. Pineapple Cove Academy uses the literacy rich curriculums below to accomplish the goals of each child.

SRA's Imagine It!
Along with Creative Curriculum, Pineapple Cove Academy has adopted SRA’s Imagine It curriculum for our VPK program. After years of researching many curricula, Pineapple Cove Academy chose Imagine It because it is incredibly rich with classical literacy, as well as the fact that it completely addresses the five key areas of Reading, and uses each to systematically teach all other areas of learning. All of our knowledgeable teachers have years of experience using the program, and love to enhance it through creative, carefully taught lessons. Everyday our teachers strive to correctly implement Imagine It with fidelity.
Our results have been amazing! Many of our VPK students begin kindergarten either reading or at least having the foundational tools to begin reading soon after starting school. At the beginning of every school year we hear from many kindergarten teachers regarding how well our students perform on their initial assessments.
Visit the SRA Imagine It! web site for more information.
Pineapple Cove has implemented Singapore Math for our students. This curriculum uses an approach to teaching elementary math that is common practice in Singapore. A top ranking on an international assessment of kindergarten through sixth grade student math achievement has made Singapore Math a preferred method of teaching around the world.
Singapore Math focuses on children understanding math on a deeper level relying heavily on visualization. Students use model drawing to solve word problems. Students in Singapore math diagram the elements of the word problem.
Singapore Math has proven to be very successful. Educators as well as parents have noticed children had a very positive experience and were more competent in problem solving and arithmetic thinking. Visit the Singapore Math web site for more information.
In general, early childhood programs that are A.P.P.L.E. accredited have demonstrated a commitment to providing high quality programs for young children and their families. The accreditation process requires each school to meet specific quality standards in areas such as interactions among teachers and children, staff to child ratios, developmental appropriateness of the curriculum, staff qualifications, health and safety, and administration. It also requires schools to undergo a validation process to verify their compliance with APPLE guidelines which may be more stringent than state licensing requirements.
